1) Program Admission Requirements

Academic (minimum grade needed in brackets)

1. One of:

  • BC secondary school graduation (or the equivalent in another school system)
  • One course short of BC secondary school graduation
  • 19 years old by the end of the first month of the first semester of attendance
  • 17 years old on the first day of the first semester of attendance and has not been in school for at least one year
  • Completion of a certificate or equivalent from a special needs program and has been in school for 12 years

  • Communications 12 (B)*

Admission Advice

1. Students currently in Grade 12 may submit interim transcripts for the above requirements.

2. Admissions are offered on a first-qualified, first-admitted basis.

3. Aside from program entry/admission requirements, there are also specific course registration requirements (called prerequisites) which are listed within Douglas College course description. Prerequisite = Course that must be successfully completed prior to registering in a given course.You may enter the program without having the prerequisite for individual courses but you must complete these course prerequisite(s) before registering in specific courses in the program. For example:

  • Foundations of Math 11 (C) or Pre-Calculus 11 (C) or equivalent is a prerequisite for many first-year Math and Statistics courses
  • Some first-year lab courses have high school prerequisites such as Biology 12, Chemistry 11 or 12 and Physics 11 or 12.
