    i, too, am firmly in the 'Notes Haters' camp.
    I know that I will get the usual canned response here from Notes fans ('but, you see, it is not just an email app, it is so much more...').
    Yeah, they're probably the worst fanboys in the IT industry; 'But it can do so much!' yes well if it can do so much, why is it the crashtastic pile of shite that it is today? If it crashes on you, you have to reboot the PC, cos just trying to start Lotus Notes again will give you a cryptic error message.
    The user interface is the worst ever ('click that little unmarked rectangle top-left in the mail view to check for new mail!', and, oh, about 10'000 other possible examples of UI idiocy).
    The last two jobs I've held have forced me to use this decades-past-it's-heyday trainwreck, and even though I've used it in various incarnations (~R4-R6 and whatever the latest public version is), I would love to know what the people at IBM were and still are smoking. Shouldn't you fix glaringly obvious bugs, from release to release? Do they even employ UI designers at IBM? Do they actually consider things such as optimizing performance, when rolling out a new release?
    As far as I can see, the sole reason it still exists, apart from the fact that you can send and receive emails and do scheduling with it (which are the two things most companies use it for today), seems to stem from the veritable ARMIES of consultants and developers that keep on recommending it, ostensibly to protect their own incomes after having spent thousands learning how to develop applications for it.

    Android will be on more things by the end of the year. iOS is restricted to apple products. But we are already seeing the creativity that people are using android for. Being that it is open source and easy to modify and write on we have many things. Android now powers eReaders, TVs, Video games, and even a microwave
    Is that supposed to be impressive? Apple is not in the appliances market, my friend.

    Besides worrying about Manufacturers and telco vendors, people need to always be aware that when they have a device such as an iPhone, iPad, and Android device, that they are carrying around a pocket, or highly portable computer.
    Security concerns you would have with data on your laptop should be carried over to those devices, and even, be paid closer attention to. You are carrying around a device that is most always internet connected, has cameras, has GPS, has Microphones, and motion sensors.
    I don't consider my iPhone a spy device, but, I keep all of those things in mind when I am running around with it ;) .

    At the risk of sounding rude, this is exactly the type of thinking that makes those of us who make our living as designers squirm in our chairs. The concept of a user being able to resize elements that we have sized for a particular reason is awful. Yes, of couse there are many poorly designed webpages out there, but that doesn't mean users should have the ability to alter the appearance and layout of any page they want. If a page is designed poorly, write to the webmaster and let him/her know why you think it's poor and how they might fix it. Toying with people's designs is opening a terrible can of worms. Let qualified, educated designers build web pages, and let users view them and critique them if necessary, but don't blur the line. We've all seen what happens when you allow that line to blur (ahem... MySpace!)

    Do you really think there is a limit to how much storage people want? People would rather shuffle more songs than less.
    people always want more.
    but do the math... 240 songs... average time per song 3 minutes
    240 x 3 = 720 minutes / 60 = 12 hours current shuffle battery time
    next year we might see a 2GB shuffle with 24 hour battery time

    Unfortunately the heat sink/fan has become detached.
    Can I use the MX-2 paste I used on the CPU's?
    Paste is paste when it comes to CPU and GPU at least. Is the heatsink affixed with the standard double posts on opposite corners with springs? If so just be sure not to crush the GPU because you need to use some decent force to get those posts in the holes. Try to only apply downward pressure on the posts themselves and do them one at a time while also being careful not to move it around so you don't mess up the paste.

    What exact external HDD do you connect via what interface (USB & Firewire) to what exact Mac with what exact Mac OS X version?
    And what do you mean with 'it won't repair' via Disk Utility? Can you provide more info for that?

    Can Apple really stop TJ Maxx from selling their iPads?
    I thought the Authorised Reseller Programme was just that: an 'Apple-certified' or 'Apple-approved' reseller? Surely any reseller who doesn't have this 'sign of approval' still can sell the iPad?
    I don't really know the answer to that since every store which I've seen here in the UK which sells Apple products are authorised resellers.
    Sorry if it's obvious, it's just that the response makes it sound like only retailers approved by Apple can sell their products; sort of like a cease and desist threat.
    I think all the discussion on this thread about Authorized Resellers and what Apple could or could not do is really funny. In the break on this story was the following ad...obviously NOT an Authorized Reseller.
